  • The Committee welcomed its new members for 2021.
  • #Bounceback updates reported progress with the New District arrangements. The Committee voted unanimously to approve the closure of Meon Valley and Petersfield, and approved the new District name of ‘New Forest Solent’ for the merged NFE and NFS Districts.
  • Updated County Leadership Team Terms of Reference document was approved.
  • Compliance figures were reported, with us currently at 2% safeguarding and 3% safety compliance. Work is ongoing to get everyone compliant across the County.
  • Training managers are working hard to ensure all overdue Wood Badges are up to date by the end of September!
  • We are still looking for a new DCC Programme and there is a big recruitment campaign to try and recruit someone into this vacancy.
  • Following the successful National Pilot, the Squirrels Section opens in September. The County Advisors are working with Districts and Groups who have expressed an interest in opening up a Squirrels section.
  • Due to the change in Government restrictions, there is now no requirement for further risk assessments to be carried out for Covid.
  • The County Treasurer provided a Budget Report up to 30th May 2021. The actual deficit is lower than budgeted due to less expenditure at Ferny Crofts. By September FC will have gone through the summer with additional bookings and we will have a clearer idea of the outcome for the full year.
  • County Reserves are in place waiting for the opportunity to use them. Covid Recovery Fund applications have been slow with no significant awards made as yet. A second round of applications is being taken soon.
  • County Office Update: The Committee voted unanimously to approve the recruitment of an additional part-time administrator to support the work of the County Office. In addition, the County Operations Manager role was made permanent following a trial of this role over the last 9 months.
  • The Growth and Development Team put forward a proposal for an additional two part-time posts to give them adequate staffing to deal with the Leadership and Volunteer Vacancy Gap across the County. They will report to the next meeting with a detailed proposal for this.
  • Two Committee members were recruited to a team to look at the County Constitution document and future proof it.
  • All teams provided reports.
  • The newly appointed Elected Youth Reps were thanked for their participation and input in their first meeting.
