Home / Updates / County Board of Trustees Meeting: January 2021
Meeting Summary:
After welcoming everybody to a New Year the Committee was updated on the current COVID-19 level, which is still Red, with no face-to-face scouting. The focus therefore is on supporting groups that are struggling financially.
The Committee received confirmation of the launch of the new Members Sitehttps://members.hampshirescouts.org.uk/ and gave thanks to all involved, particularly the Digital, Media and Comms team.
Training and Compliance in Hampshire is currently very good at 97% with is just the last few to do, this coming up on a National Report with a special mention from HQ. The First aid Training has been extremely well received by all. Mike Baxter and Team put their training model online and HQ are looking at it, with other CCs describing it as brilliant.
There has been a bumper crop of Good Service Awards, these will be listed in HSU. The hope is that all 27 Districts will have someone recognised in this by April 2021.
The County Conference will be taking place via Zoom on Saturday 20th March 2021. The later County Conference date is confirmed as Saturday 9th October 2021, with the new UK Chief Commissioner confirmed as the Guest speaker. Subject to COVID-19 restrictions the hope is for a face-to-face morning activity with maybe a Ferny Crofts visit in the afternoon.
Russ Parke has been working on Appointments. The focus now will be on ASU’s and finding out if the large number of people registered are all still actively involved.
The Committee was given a proposal for a County owned Mobile Climbing Wall. This would be a shared adventurous activity resource that is accessible/ available to the whole County, and managed, maintained and stored by Ferny Crofts. The Committee liked the idea in principle and asked JR to speak with Schools, Groups and District Clusters regarding potential usage.
CENSUS is underway, info detailing support has gone out to all Districts and in HSU, with G&D Team supporting new leaders.
Hedgehogs Pilot update:the Committee were updated on the success of 27 pilots over the Country, engaging 4 & 5 year olds. These have engaged both young people and volunteers, 60% of which are new to Scouting. Second pilots are now due to be launched when allowed to open properly.
The Committee voted to approve a number of items, all were approved and carried unanimously as follows:
